Searching for Teams messages and returning to important messages
In Teams you can search for messages in any conversation you have participated in.
Now that we have been using Teams for a long time, some chat histories may have become quite lengthy. Sometimes there may be a situation where one should be able to return to a long-ago debate. Then do this:
- Open the conversation you want to target.
- Focus the search on an open conversation: Press CTRL+F or type /find in the Teams search bar you know that the search is directed to the view when you see the text “/find” at the beginning of the search field.
- Type a keyword and press enter.
- You will see the search results and by clicking on them you will be able to move to that point in the conversation.
Teams search works like this:
- The size of the letters does not matter, uppercase and lowercase letters are treated the same.
- If the keyword is only one letter, e.g. k, then the search is only for single character expressions. In this case, the search results could also list e.g. K-ovi or K-station.
- If the search word is two characters or more, all occurrences with words beginning with the searched characters are listed in the search results. Therefore, there is no need for separate cut-off marks for the search to find different forms of bending. There are no wildcards in use in the search and the search is always only aimed at the beginning of the words.
