For more detailed instructions, see the file: Hello for Business in Windows 11.pdf.
Biometric recognition and PIN code
We use a facial recognition which utilizes laptop’s camera. Fingerprint identification is only possible on devices with a fingerprint scanner and the use is permitted by maintenance.
You will specify the Hello for Business login settings when launching Windows 11 in campus network or Eduroam/Owlan. The introduction of facial (or fingerprint) recognition and the setting of the PIN code should be done regardless of whether you intend to use them in the future. The use of biometrics is not mandatory; you can still login with your UNIV user account or your personal PIN code.
The information used to identify your face or a possible fingerprint is not transferred from your device to any other location, they are device specific. The PIN code you specified is also device specific, it is stored on your device and also as a backup to your MS account for possible recovery needs.
Set-up measures
Introduce Hello for Business feature on your UNIV computer in these cases:
- the computer is brand new, or

- If the computer does not yet have Eduroam settings, connect it to the campus communication network with a cable or connect to wireless Eduroam or Owlan with your user account (account@univ.yo.oulu.fi, account@oamk.fi).
