Description
VISU is a modern, audited and secure computing environment for research and development projects involving sensitive, confidential or restricted data. The environment meets the requirements defined by Findata and the Finnish Act on the Secondary Use of Health and Social Data (552/2019). Both Windows and Linux environments are available.
Who Is VISU Intended For?
VISU is designed for projects where data protection is a key requirement. The environment can be used for, for example:
- research involving health and social care registry data
- research projects containing personal data
- educational and social science research
- corporate research and development projects
- projects involving confidential or restricted information
- teaching and courses involving the handling of sensitive data
More Than an Environment for Registry-Based Research
VISU is suitable for the secure processing of a wide range of research and development data. It is designed to meet demanding information security requirements, whether the data consists of personal information, research datasets, trade secrets or other protected information.
Coming to the University of Oulu
VISU service will be introduced at the University of Oulu during the third quarter of 2026.
