This accessibility statement applies to the University of Oulu service e-Forms – Electronic forms and has been updated on September 11, 2026. It was first published on December 3, 2019. The Act on the Provision of Digital Services obliges us as a public sector organisation to comply with accessibility requirements in our digital services.
The statement is based on an accessibility assesment prepared by an accessibility expert at Exove oy.
The service partially complies with accessibility requirements
We are improving the accessibility of digital services, and the shortcomings identified in this statement will be corrected in connection with the development of the service.
The accessibility issues identified in the service are grouped into two categories:
Perceivable
- A form control has more than one label associated with it, which may prevent assistive technologies from reading the correct text alternative (WCAG 1.1.1).
- A layout table has been used in part of the website. This may cause issues with reading and navigation order, or screen readers may interpret it as a data table (i.e., announcing column and row numbers) (WCAG 1.3.1).
- The drop-down menu of certain form fields is not fully visible when the form is used on a mobile device in portrait orientation. Users must rotate the device to landscape orientation to view the entire content of the page (WCAG 1.3.4).
- The contrast of the logged-in user’s information displayed at the top of the page is insufficient in both hover and focus states (WCAG 1.4.3).
- Some column headings in a table element disappear if the text size is increased by more than 150 % (WCAG 1.4.4).
- In the administrator view, the contrast of the question mark icon used for additional information in forms is insufficient (WCAG 1.4.11).
Operable
- The service has a 90-minute session timeout, after which the user is automatically logged out. Users do not receive a separate warning before the session expires (the timeout is communicated through a permanent notice on the home page) (WCAG 2.2.1).
- Two adjacent links in the site header, namely the University of Oulu logo and the “Electronic Forms” text, direct users to the same URL (WCAG 2.4.4).
- The text areas used in form workflows do not have accessible names (WCAG 4.1.2).
- The div elements surrounding date fields contain attributes that do not belong to them (WCAG 4.1.2).
