When your employment ends, hand over your phone to the Campus ICT service desk, unless it was acquired through Netox. Phones acquired through Netox should be returned to the Netox service desk at Linnanmaa. Before returning the phone, remove accounts, screen lock, and finally reset the phone to factory settings. If needed, the Campus ICT service desk can assist with clearing the phone.
Primarily, the subscription is terminated. Contracts linked to the subscription are dissolved upon termination. For a justified reason, the subscription can be transferred to a successor, along with the phone after resetting. The mobile phone number can also be transferred for private use.
When changing phones, after setting up the new phone, hand over the old phone to the Campus ICT service desk, unless it was acquired through Netox. Phones acquired through Netox should be returned to the Netox service desk at Linnanmaa. Before returning the phone, remove accounts, screen lock, and finally reset the phone to factory settings. Phones acquired through Netox are service devices, and you can identify them by a sticker on the phone that says ‘service device’.
Before handing over your phone:
- Save necessary files:
- Save the data/files stored in the old phone’s memory, such as contacts, browser bookmarks (bookmarks, favorites), files, photos, etc. Note: If the files are in a cloud service, they do not need to be copied due to device change.
- When your employment ends, save personal data. Discuss with your supervisor who to transfer work-related files and contacts to.
- Ensure the removal of data from the phone:
- If you hand over or leave the phone for another person’s use, it is important to ensure data protection. Contact the Campus ICT service desk and let a professional reset the phone to factory settings, which will also erase your data from the phone.
- If you hand over the device to the next user yourself, you take responsibility for data protection. Ensure that ICT services (mobiilituki@oulu.fi) are informed of the user change and that, for example, your private call billing agreement (University of Oulu) is terminated. Fill out the form Transfer within your organization or provide the following information:
- Your name, office, mobile subscription number, government number
- Device identification details: phone model, serial number
- Next user’s contact details: name, email, phone, office, cost center.
Transfer of carrier plan:
Changes in the usage rights and ownership of the mobile subscription and phone number must always be reported to ICT services (mobiilituki@oulu.fi). Notifications are made using electronic forms or a power of attorney, depending on the nature of the transfer.
The phone and its subscription are provided for your use only. When the user or payer changes, the information must always be reported to ICT services (mobiilituki@oulu.fi).
When employment ends:
- If the subscription and phone number are transferred to another person, e.g., a successor, use the form “Transfer of subscription within your organization.”
- The private call billing agreement is terminated by mobile support, and the next user makes their own agreement (University of Oulu).
- If the subscription is taken in your own name, keeping the same mobile phone number, use the form “Termination or transfer of subscription from the university organization.”
- The private call billing agreement is terminated by mobile support (University of Oulu).
- If the subscription is to be completely terminated, use the form “Termination or transfer from your organization. (in Finnish)“
- The private call billing agreement is terminated (University of Oulu).
When employment begins:
- If you want to transfer the mobile phone number to university use, use the form “Transfer to your organization. (in Finnish)“
All forms ask for, among other things:
- desired date of number transfer
- approver(s) of the transfer; name and email address
Transfer within your organization:
When the user of the mobile phone number/subscription changes, the change notification must be made immediately using the form. It is also necessary to ensure that the private use billing agreement is terminated for the previous user and the next user makes a new 151 agreement (University of Oulu).

Termination or transfer from the organization:
Termination means the organization relinquishes the mobile phone number. At the same time, all contracts related to the carrier plan (e.g., 151 agreement) are terminated (University of Oulu).
Transfer from the organization can mean, for example, transferring the carrier plan and number to private use (e.g., when retiring or when employment ends).
